Will you happy to know that your Portland Beavers are now The El Paso Chihuahuas? Yes that’s true. The team has changed its logo and name. The new logo of the team is showing red Chihuahua with angry eyes and spiked collar. Actually, Portland Beavers baseball team has been representing the Portland since 1903. It is said that this team has repeatedly changed its leagues, names, owners, and stadiums throughout the 100 years.
The team has survived through 2 world wars. Its 56-year-old Satchel Paige pitched 23 innings for this team. It goes without saying that beavers had changed its name as Portland Rockies in the early 1990s. But, this name did not work for the team however it had to be retrieved as “Beavers” in 2000.
On the other hand, in 2010 Beavers owner Merritt Paulson sold the team to Tucson. It is said that Beavers had played their final home game in Portland on September 6, 2010. In this game, Beavers had won the final by winning 6-5 over Las Vegas. Since then, they have not returned to Portland.
